The students who have successfully graduated BA in Pharmacy academic program may be employed as a pharmacist or a pharmacologist at pharmacies, pharmaceutical production companies, scientific research centres and many other related institutions. The graduates of the program may also be employed at various related positions within state infrastructures.

The graduates will be able to make a successful career as a Pharmacist in hospitals, clinics, and drugstores as well as become an integral part of the pharmaceutical industry. Elective Subjects: In addition to the mandatory subjects, students have the opportunity to choose from a list of elective subjects. The choice of elective subjects depends on the student’s preferences and future career plans. The list of electives is updated annually by the Chair, taking into account the rapid pace of change in the labour market and economy.

The complete list of elective subjects could be collected from the Chair of Pharmacy. The elective courses can also be chosen from the list of subjects by the Department of Law, Foreign Languages and Management and IT.

Pre-postgraduate internship. The last semester of the bachelor’s degree program is fully devoted to professional internships, thesis defence, and final exams. The internship lasts 8 weeks, it is held in different workshops of pharmacies RA. During this time, the student prepares his / her final thesis and is given 2 weeks extra for defence preparations. The Chair of Pharmacy ensures that the topics of the dissertation are in line with the priorities of pharmaceuticals and healthcare development, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Career Prospects:

The graduate of the educational program can work as a specialist in the field of pharmacology and pharmaceutical production, pharmacist, and pharmacology in pharmacies, in different drug companies and in research institutions. Can hold other positions related to pharmacology in the state system. Graduates will be able to start a successful career as a pharmacist in hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, as well as become an integral part of the pharmaceutical industry. They can also start their own retail or wholesale business in the pharmaceutical industry while maintaining further professional development as a researcher or pharmaceutical specialist.

• Consolidating modern requirements for the factory and pharmacy preparation of drugs and herbs, including quality control, standardization, storage, state registration, advertising, and the proper disposal of low-quality drugs.
• Explaining the contemporary physicochemical methods utilized for qualitative and quantitative research of drugs, pharmacological and herbal raw materials, in accordance with the defining technical documents of various pharmacopoeias.
• Regulating clinical pharmacology, understanding the requirements of the international drug classification system, and comprehending salary structures within the field.
• Describing the structure and properties of chemical compounds (both inorganic and organic) and proficiently presenting various methods orally and in writing, while highlighting their toxicological characteristics.
• Possessing a fundamental knowledge of physiology and anatomy, capable of solving problems in these subjects through both verbal and practical approaches.
• Identifying the main metabolic pathways of the body, as well as understanding the causes of pathological processes and hereditary diseases, including the latest research methodologies.
• Interpreting the pharmacological properties, incompatibility, and bioavailability of drugs and herbs, presenting knowledge of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics, biotechnology, and related topics, and effectively applying this knowledge during pharmacy practice.
• Acquiring a solid understanding of modern biology, botany, biotechnology, and biomedicine, as well as the specific features of applied methods within these fields.
• Understanding the nutritional requirements of the body and the necessary nutrients, recognizing the primary sources of nutrients (both biotic and abiotic foods), comprehending the causes and prevention of poisoning, and interpreting nutritional information and methods for addressing them.
• Possessing theoretical and practical knowledge about politics, political power, political systems, parties, electoral structures, and leadership, and being able to engage in discussions about current professional and non-professional issues.
• Familiarity with the problems of medical psychology, including the biological and psychological determinants of behaviour, psychological methods, and psychosomatic and somatopsychic disorders.
• Analyzing the production of drugs and medical cosmetology, understanding the advantages and specific technologies associated with the materials used, and effectively applying this knowledge in practice.
• Applying modern scientific research within the professional practice.
• Ability to provide advice to specialists in pharmaceutical organizations and the general population regarding the use of drugs for the prevention of common diseases and person-centred care.
• Proficiency in administering medical aid, providing first aid, and administering medications to victims and patients during emergency situations.
• Distinguishing the main groups of microbes and possessing knowledge about their characteristics and their role in nature and human life.
• Effectively conveying information about new drugs to physicians, pharmaceutical companies, and the general public, including guidelines for their use.
• Being proficient in professional software programs that define scientific, technical, legal, and regulatory standards.
• Understanding the principles of developing and organizing pharmaceutical activities within different spheres of drug circulation and possessing foundational management skills necessary to oversee pharmacy operations and drug quality control laboratories.
• Ability to prepare medications in pharmacies and participate in the manufacturing processes of medicines in pharmaceutical institutions.
