On February 8, 2021, a monitoring visit was organized at Eurasia International University by the initiative of the Erasmus + Office in Armenia. The participants of the meeting were Lana Karlova, Program Coordinator of the Erasmus + Office, Edith Soghomonyan and Ani Torosyan as Program Officers, Christina Sargsyan – Expert, EIU Rector Suren Ohanyan as well as representatives of the departments of the university.

The purpose of the monitoring visit by the Erasmus + Office in Armenia was to study the impact of EU-funded capacity building and exchange programs at the university. On the first day of the monitoring, a meeting took place with EIU Rector, Doctor of Science, Professor Suren Ohanyan. In his speech, the rector said: “Erasmus programs have had a significant impact on the university in terms of building capacity and general improvement of the university. We give special importance to our participation in the ASPIRE capacity building program, in the framework of which it was possible to implement inclusive higher education, involving students and lecturers with special needs, providing with the necessary services and environment for the latter.  Within the framework of the above-stated program, the infrastructure and equipment of the university have transformed, several methodological trainings have been carried out, and awareness-raising activities have taken place.

“HARMONY” program changed the management culture at the university: the staff and students of the university have been actively involved in the program, as a result of which we were able to study and localize the best international practices in the field of management, content of education, research, and assuring the mobility of students.

We are currently involved in the ARMDOCT program which is a revolutionary program and extremely important towards reforming doctoral education in the country. ”

Nune Jomardyan, Head of the EIU Center for International Relations, highlighted the importance of training courses organized by the Erasmus + Office in Armenia. The heads of the EIU chairs emphasized that as a result of international cooperation, professional educational programs, subjects, and curricula have been monitored and reviewed regularly.

During the meeting, the rector also referred to the impact of international programs on the organizational structure of the university, the development of professional education programs as well as spoke about the current threats and prospects for the development of the university.

At the end of the meeting, a tour was organized according to the agenda.

It should be noted that the monitoring visit will be continued in the upcoming days and online meetings with EIU staff involved in Erasmus + program and program coordinators will be organized.
