On April 12-13, 2018 an international workshop was held at Eurasia International University, organized by the European Center for Modern Languages (ECML) of the Council of Europe jointly with Eurasia International University.
The workshop’s theme was “Development of the Academic Curricula through Other Subjects’ Content of and Language”. The trainings were conducted by ECML experts Frederick Tauae and Dunya Chamerline from the Geneva International School. The workshop-trainings were carried in English targeting an audience of professionals who, in their schools, universities and other educational institutions, teach various subjects in foreign languages, particularly in English, as well as those who develop academic curricula and subject plans.
The workshop was opened by Mr. Suren Ohanyan, EIU rector, who in his speech acknowledged the importance of knowing languages and their use in teaching processes. Ms. Lusine Fljyan, member of the ECML Board, thanked Eurasia International University in her speech and hailed the fact that the knowledge and skills gained in the two-day training were to be passed down to students and pupils.
In her turn, Ms. Sona Hakobyan, EIU Foreign Languages and Literature Faculty Head, thanked all the presents and the international experts in particular, for their participation, she expressed hopes that the workshop would achieve its goals and wished everybody productive work, thus signaling the start of the workshop.
Trainers Frederick Tauae and Dunya Chamerline familiarized the participants with the methodology which enables students to simultaneously get professional knowledge and learn a foreign language, introducing multi-discipline approaches in the English language context.
Also among the participants were English language professionals from higher and public educational institutions of Armenia.
