On May 26th, 2020, the Scientific Council of Eurasia International University held an online session chaired by the President of the above-stated Council, Doctor of Science, Professor Suren Ohanyan.

During the session, several issues indicated on the agenda were discussed and approved. One of the key points on the agenda was about the effective organization of the final exams for the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. For the above-stated purpose, the Quality Assurance Center of the university had conducted monitoring for the learning process during the pandemic period and with the support of the Methodological Council, prepared a Guidance for Organizing Distance and Blended Learning, to be presented to the approval of the Scientific Council. The instructions will promote the use of modern information and communication technologies in the educational process as well as will contribute to the personalization of the educational process, the introduction of a flexible system of curriculum application as it provides comprehensive information and guides the participants in the distance learning process. The guidance also outlines the alternative assessment procedures acceptable for EIU, including the descriptions and applications of the above-sated procedures. The Head of the EIU Quality Assurance Center has also submitted to the approval of the Academic Council several procedures, which had been revised considering the online organization of the processes. For example, a section about regulating the process of organizing and conducting online examinations had been added to the “Procedures for organizing and conducting examination”, another section on submission of the research and defense of the master thesis had been added to the “Guidance for the preparation of the bachelor’s research and master’s thesis preparation and defense procedure. “The EIU “Student Appealing Procedure” had also been revised according to which students can apply exclusively online. All of the above-stated documents were approved by the Board of Scientific Council.

A reference has been made to the results of the survey on the employment dynamics of EIU alumni over the last five years by the Career Center. In particular, it stated that the total employment rate of EIU alumni was 64%, while the employment rate by professional occupation for the same period was 30%. It is worth to mention that the employment rate of EIU graduates with a Master’s degree was 77% (professional occupation -45%). Appropriate decisions had been made on the issues stated on the agenda.

Summing up the session, Mr. Ohanyan stated its effectiveness and noted that the efficient operation of the online platform is a new challenge for the implementation of upcoming programs that aim at the development of the university.
