Access to Society for People with Individual Requirements (ASPIRE)

The ASPIRE Project (Access to Society for People with Individual Requirements) is coordinated by Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia and involves 14 higher education and public training institutions and NGOs from Armenia, Georgia, Ireland, UK, Germany and Slovakia. ASPIRE aims to foster the rights of individuals with special needs to access inclusive education and enjoy the right of participation in everyday society, to combat discrimination of the individuals with special needs by instilling awareness and acceptance in society as in line wASPIRE logoith Bologna Process and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Principal outcomes and outputs incorporate :

  • English for Specific Purposes (Special Needs and Disability) training for all target groups,
  • ASPIRE ECTS training,
  • a complete ASPIRE Curriculum for all PC institutions (developed with EU-TUNING),
  • piloting of 8 ASPIRE Introductory and Advanced Modules (see Project Content) through Piloting during 2 semesters.
  • The Access Liaison Officer role will be developed and established at each institution to promote disability access
  • National Special Needs Awareness Day will be established by the nationally strategic Action Groups comprised of universities, public administration institutes, Ministries and NGOs.
